Whether medicines, biological reagents or test kits — these products are often delivered to the customer by post. The challenge: the products are usually temperature-sensitive and subject to strict GDP guidelines, the packages are on the road for some time and polystyrene is no longer welcomed by the customer.
Here Landpack® comes into play.
Since 2013, we have specialised in the development, production and marketing of environmentally friendly insulated packaging. The Landbox®, which we developed and internationally protected, is the world’s first radically environmentally friendly insulated packaging with the performance data of polystyrene. More than 600+ existing customers from various industries trust in our know-how and our Landbox®, because the GDP-compliant, ecological insulating combines functionality and sustainability packaging as a replacement for the conventional expanded polystyrene box.
Functionality
In our passive insulated packaging, valuable, temperature-sensitive medicines and life science products such as reagents, enzymes or assay kits in combination with cooling or PCM batteries can be shipped safely and GDP compliant.
The EU Directive on Good Distribution Practice (GDP) regulates the adherence to the highest quality standards of pharmaceutical products throughout the entire distribution chain. Manufacturers and logistics service providers are responsible for maintaining the temperature range specified on the packaging at all stages of the supply chain.
Sustainability
Our insulated packaging is produced and distributed with low energy consumption (20 kWh/m³) from hydroelectric power in Bavaria. The raw material straw is a by-product of local agriculture and does not compete with food production. If the packaging is no longer useful in the household or garden after use, it can be disposed of in organic waste (DIN EN 13432 certified) and is thus returned to the natural material cycle.
Since 2019, the VerpackG (packaging law) has encouraged marketers of packaging materials to use more ecological materials. Further, stricter laws are expected in the coming years.

According to GDP pre-qualified insulated packaging made of straw
Cool packs in conventional packaging sizes are pre-qualified according to GDP for the ranges 2–8 °C and ‑20 °C. Packing schemes have been developed and validated in compliance with international standards for refrigerated logistics (e.g. AFNOR).
Further information about our pre-qualified insulated packaging can be found here.
Qualification of insulated packaging for your individual application
We would be pleased to undertake an individual pre-qualification of our ecological insulated packaging according to your special requirements.
An overview of the procedure of a validation study can be found here.
