Our founder, Patricia Eschenlohr, was re-elected this week as spokesperson for the Bavarian Bioeconomy Expert Council.

At a meeting in the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry on 8 March 2022, the Council discussed approaches with Agriculture Minister Michaela Kaniber and Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger on how the currently severe raw materials crisis could be eased with help from the bioeconomy. In view of climate change and the war in Ukraine, we urgently need a transformation of our fossil-based system towards a bio-based circular economy.

‘Protect through use’ is the motto for further development of the bioeconomy in Bavaria, focussing on sustainable, biodiversity-friendly and resource-conserving agriculture and forestry. Through the cultivation and use of renewable raw materials, fossil, mineral and metallic raw materials are already being replaced with biomass. The focus must be on the material adoption of residual raw materials from agriculture and forestry. As seen with the use straw as a raw material, there is still very great potential for unused, locally produced and sustainable biomass.
